Traffic department to use camera technology to catch vehicle with expired insurance

The Traffic department initiated tracking of all vehicles with expired insurance using modern traffic camera technology installed in security patrols as well as installed on all ring, main and internal roads. According to report, since the beginning of using this modern system, patrol teams have been able to seize 176 vehicles that were wanted or did not have valid insurance.

Last week, the officials were able to register 31,86 traffic violations, and the referral of 176 vehicles and 26 motorcycles to the impound garage. 43 violators and reckless persons were arrested, 18 juveniles were referred to the Juvenile Prosecution after they were caught driving vehicles without obtaining driving licenses, and 31 wanted persons were arrested in connection with security and criminal cases and violations of the residency law. 3 people were arrested for use of narcotic substances.

Traffic Operations Sector developed an integrated traffic security plan with the aim of controlling the traffic situation to catch vehicles without valid insurance and also to control the phenomenon of juveniles driving, especially during the summer vacation, officials said.
