The Kuwait Chapter of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (KCICAI) successfully organized an online Yoga Workshop in celebration of International Yoga Day. The event was graced by a significant number of attendees, including past chairpersons, founding members, and prominent representatives from ICAI overseas chapters.
The session began with a warm welcome from CA Andaleeb Girkar, an Executive Committee member of KCICAI, who highlighted the profound physical and spiritual significance of yoga. In her introductory remarks, she emphasized how yoga contributes to overall well-being, blending physical health and mental peace.

CA Aditya Vikram Dhanuka, Chairperson of KCICAI, officially inaugurated the event. He underscored the immense benefits of integrating yoga into daily routines, especially for professionals. His address set a positive tone for the session and he extended a special welcome to CA Harshal Baxi, expressing gratitude for his willingness to lead the workshop.

Following the welcome address, CA Andaleeb Girkar introduced the esteemed yoga expert, CA Harshal Baxi. Despite being a Chartered Accountant by profession, CA Harshal chose to pursue his passion for yoga 19 years ago. For the past 13 years, he has been a dedicated yoga instructor, conducting sessions globally, including in India, Australia, the USA, Switzerland, Malaysia, and Dubai.

CA Harshal began the workshop by discussing the critical importance of yoga for professionals, particularly those in desk-bound jobs. He stressed the significance of spinal health, likening the spine to the root of a tree that needs to be well-nurtured. He highlighted that yoga is a union of body and mind, emphasizing holistic well-being. During the workshop, he demonstrated various asanas and postures that are crucial for maintaining an upright spine and enhancing blood circulation. He also showcased specific postures aimed at alleviating pressure on internal organs, such as the heart and lungs, and promoting lumbar health. Additionally, CA Harshal explained how correct diaphragmatic posture aids in proper breathing, which is vital for overall health. He addressed common issues like carpal tunnel syndrome caused by prolonged use of keyboards and phones, demonstrating effective yoga stretches to mitigate these problems.

Participants actively engaged in performing the yoga poses under CA Harshal's guidance. The session was interactive and educational, providing valuable insights into maintaining physical health through yoga.

The workshop concluded with a Q&A session moderated by CA Kunjumary Ignatious, where attendees inquired about various health concerns. CA Harshal offered expert advice and practical solutions, enriching the participants' understanding of yoga's therapeutic benefits.

CA Umesh Soni delivered the formal vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to CA Harshal for his enlightening and informative session. He also extended thanks to representatives from the ICAI overseas chapters of Bahrain, Oman, and Qatar, along with all Executive Committee members and participants, for their contributions to the success of the event and also expressed appreciation to KCICAI's annual sponsors Al Mulla Exchange and NBK for their unwavering support.

The KCICAI's online Yoga Workshop not only commemorated International Yoga Day but also reinforced the importance of yoga in promoting a balanced and healthy lifestyle among professionals. The event was a testament to the commitment of the KCICAI to foster well-being and community spirit among its members.
