Kuwait and Philippines resume recruitment of Filipino workers to Kuwait

Kuwait and Philippines today reached an agreement whereby the recruitment of Filipino manpower to Kuwait will be resumed, Kuwait's Interior Ministry said in a statement Sunday.

The agreement came during a meeting between First Deputy Prime Minister, Defense Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousuf Al-Sabah and Undersecretary of the Philippines' Department of Migrant Workers Bernard Olalia, the Interior Ministry said.

The statement explained that the two sides, after extensive discussion, agreed to lift the ban imposed by the Kuwaiti side and allow the issuance of all entry visas and work visas for Filipino nationalities.

The two sides also agreed to establish a joint technical working committee composed of the competent authorities in both countries, to meet periodically to address issues related to employment and address all concerns that may arise in the future.
