Human Rights Society urges Ministry to reconsider health fees

Tuesday, October 17, 2017

The Kuwait Human Rights Society (KHRS) called on the health ministry to reconsider its decision to hike health services fees for expatriates, as the society found that inability to pay the new charges has forced many expats to discontinue treatment.

The society said the decision will adversely affect the health of expatriates despite the positive outcome in the reduction of the number of visitors to the health facilities — according to the ministry’s point of view. It noted Newton’s law of motion indicates that ‘every action has an equal and opposite reaction’.

It also recounted a story circulated on social media recently about an expatriate who died as a result of a clot in the heart after he went to the hospital for treatment and was obliged to leave the same day instead of keeping him under observation in the hospital for days.

Guys, this is going over deaf ears. I bet Nobody is gonna listen. But I hope they revert it back. As poor people will suffer.
Lets take a practical Example. if a person with a salary of just 200 kd is having a heart problem and he needs medical attention. just imagine his state.. Either he will suffer and die or else he will exit this country.
truly very sad.

There is no country in the world except Kuwait to discriminate between the citizens & expats in service fee hikes at hospitals, clinics, energy etc. Medical services are the basic health services a country provides to its residents. Service fee hike should be reasonable and affordable to the common man and should be equal to everyone regardless of nationality.

Not sure if any authority is reading this but still...
Kuwait is known as a rich country to the outside world and this is one reason why so many expatriates flocked to this nation. This nation has made many rich but at the same time many continue to be poor, too poor even to look after their own health. Forget the rich among the expatriates if you want to, they may find alternative means but don't close your eyes to the poor who has also supported this nation. Put a salary cap if you want to but don't let them die because of your insensitivity. There are so many expats who cannot afford to take care of their health with the kind of salary they earn.
Thank you...

There are many resigned employees waiting for more than 10 months to get their pending salaries and indemnity. While workers are staying in company camps, company is not providing accommodation and food for most of the staffs. Is there any "real" human rights group in Kuwait to address such issues ?? Here the authorities cannot touch some of the influential companies and employees are scapegoats. Each day new rules are enforced against expatriates. But no rules are applicable for the defaulting companies!!!

The outcome is good bcoz expats are not going to hospital as they can't afford new fees. it doesn't mean that they are not falling sick.
The country like india, egypt , pakistan is giving free or minimal charges of health care in government hospital.

Then why kuwait is imposing such kind of law. However i agree that the decision is good but the charges should be raise like petrol. which is reasonable.

Now expats are getting pinch from Telecommunication and MOH.
And please don't introduce more burden like VAT, remittance tax, licence fees all this menace will give very negative impact on market.

first of all we agree its their country but one should not forget that expats have played a very vital role since the early era to build this nation. so pls stop the discrimination of citizens and expats, both should be considered equallly. kuwaitzation in job is understood but not medical, license, car, hose, and other basics of life, why the govt wants all to be free to the citizen and that too taken from expats in diff name
being born here i have seen all faces of the society of kuwait
there is increasing gap between the citizen and expats, there are billionaire expats also in kuwait who have huge huge business so pls pls govt and citizen stop seeing expats as inferiors

in regard to the medical fees let the govt impose fees but be it reasonable and appliable to both , expats and citizens govt should not alone bear the burden
let them increase the fees reasonably and in limits of the the ncome of all people. let all afford it
