India’s Independence story

India is celebrating annually it’s Independence Day on August 15. It is a very remarkable day for all Indians as it is the day when India gained independence from British rule. Let’s have a small introduction about India and it’s independence story.

India is a democratic country. It is a country, which is a combination of many states having various cultures, traditions etc., It is the second most populated country in the world and India is seventh largest country in the world by land area. It has 29 states and 7 union territories.

India was under the British rule since 1900 until the end of 1947, India gained independence from British in 15th August 1947.The first Prime Minister off India, Jawaharlal Nehru raised the Indian National flag above the Lahori Gate of the Red Fort in Delhi.

Independence Day is observed throughout India with flag-hoisting ceremonies, parades and cultural events.

Our beloved father of nation Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi launched and directed three major campaigns in the Indian Independence movement. There were many revolutionary fighters of India such as Bhagat Singh, Sivaram Rajguru, Khudiram Bose etc. They were called revolutionaries because they believed that only revolutionary methods would work to get India’s freedom.. The female freedom fighters such as Jhansi Rani Lakshmi Bhai, Sarojini Naidu, Annie Besant also participated in the India’s freedom movement.

The Lala Lajpat Rai, Bal Gangadhar Tilak, Bipin Chandra pal who were shortly called as LAL BAL PAL advocated the Swadeshi movement involving the boycott of the imported items and to use India-made items. India won it’s independence from British colonial rule in1947 after more than 45 years of struggle. It was all because of the effort taken by freedom fighters.

Now let’s see some famous quotes that were said by India’s freedom fighters.

“Tum mujhe khoon do, main tumhe aazaadee doonga.” –Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose.

“The shots that hit me are the last nails to the coffin of British rule in India”.- Lala Lajpat Rai.

“Manpower without unity is not strength.” – Sardar Vallabhai Patel.

“Where there is love there is life” – Mahatma Gandhi

This year 2021, we are celebrating India’s 75th Independence day.

We should always be proud to be an Indian and support our country by unity.

Jai Hind.
