Ramadan

Ramadan , in Islam, the ninth month on the Muslim calendar and the holy, month of fasting. It begins and ends with the appearance of the crescent moon. It starts 10-12 days earlier each year. It lasts for either 29 or 30 days. It was the name of a scorching hot summer month.

At this time, Muslims are expected to stop eating, drinking from dawn to sunset each day. Muslin gather together and break their fast together after sunset. The traditional way to break the fast is eating dates and drinking a glass of water.Muslim people does charity in Iftar. People who couldn’t fast during Ramadan give food to poor people. It is the fourth pillars of Islam as fast is a deep worship in which Muslim seek a richer perception of God. Ramadan is the month in which the first revelation of the Holy Quran was told to Prophet Mohammed. It aims to grow spiritually and build stronger relationship. They pray 5 times a day. Many Muslims go the mosque and spend several hours praying. They recite special prayer called the night prayer. Culture also is a important part in how Ramadan is seen beyond fasting. The last night of Ramadan is very important and many increase their nightly prayers and devotion. The famous lantern has been a symbol of Ramadan for many years. Muslims believe that it represents the light guiding the way. People greets their muslin friend as Ramadan Mubarak which tells their generosity .Eid al- Fits is end of Ramadan.

Ramadan has been religious and personal significance for Muslims as the get to meditate and connect with their family .It is the time of festivity, community, charity and praying to God.
